THE GLASS SLIPPER
Lighting Designer, Sound Designer, Writer, Director, Actor
The Glass Slipper was a high school drama project that reimagined a classic fairytale for the Halloween showcase. One of the chosen tales was Cinderella, reinterpreted to explore an unsettling and incestuous premise: what if, instead of Cinderella’s father being dead, she was the illegitimate daughter of the king?
For the lighting design, Clara aimed for the audience to clearly distinguish between reality and Cinderella’s imagination, using greater saturation to coorelate a deeper descent into her madness.
For the sound design, They focused primarily on ambience, setting, and time shifts. By stripping away the whimsical innocence often associated with Cinderella, Clara created a sense of irony involving the original Disney themes of "love at first sight." One standout moment not featured on this page involved swaddling a Bluetooth speaker to produce a realistic baby cry for the opening scene.
